How to Get Your Website Indexed by Google in 15 Minutes

November 30, 2009

Getting your website or blog indexed by Google is a good way to get your new online venture established and receive free traffic in the process. This short article explains how you can do a few simple things which take less than 10 minutes to get your website or blog indexed by Google within 15 minutes or so!

First of all, if you don’t already have a Yahoo account and valid Yahoo email address, then go to www.Yahoo.com and follow the easy instructions that explain how to obtain one.

Next you want create a Yahoo Answers profile. Simply go to http://answers.yahoo.com/ and log into your account and create a Yahoo Answers profile. If you want, you can add details to your profile and add friends and gain fans within the Yahoo Answers community as a member. This of course is not necessary.

Then you will use the search feature to find people’s questions pertaining to your website or blog’s topic. Select “open answers” during the search. This will return questions that are still accepting answers. Selecting recent questions to answer is always the best because open answers get the most traffic and the person asking the question still has yet to read all of the available answers.

Pick one of the questions and answer it with a good, informative and objective answer of at least 2 paragraphs. Give complete thoughts and remember to make it useful to the person who is asking the question. If you post a short one sentence reply, then there is a good chance your post will be deleted and marked as spam. Make sure to include a link to your website IN THE SOURCE BOX, and not in the actual post. By putting your website or blog’s link in the source box, Google has a way to find your site.

Next you will utilize two popular social book marking sites: Digg.com and Mixx.com. First go to http://digg.com/ and create an account if you don’t already have one. Log into your account and click the “Submit New” link. This will allow you to submit your website or blog’s URL. It will include some details about your site and even let you share it with others and make comments about it if you’d like.

Last, do the same thing at http://www.mixx.com/. Submit your web address just like you did on Digg.com. The process is very similar. Both sites are free to join.

Google crawls these sites VERY often and your website or blog’s URL will be registered in Google in about 15 minutes or less! This is a surefire way to get into the search engines quickly.

As a bonus: go to http://autopinger.com/ and submit your URL there as well. This site will send a “ping” to various search engines and directories requesting them to crawl and index your site. Google accepts the pings almost 100% of the time. Do these quick and easy steps and you’re site or blog will be listed in Google and other search engines in a matter of minutes!

I never made a dime online until I found this AMAZING tool: http://MakeMoneyThisEvening.com

Article Writer - Do You Need One?

November 30, 2009

Content is king. Your web presence needs content that your audience will be interested in, period. People go to websites for the content they provide. They read web comics for amusement, visit consumer advocacy sites to inform themselves, visit political blogs to find causes to champion - in short, people visit websites to find things out. Whether it’s for shopping or simple erudition, a large part of the web process involves reading, and the people doing the reading want to look through something of quality. You have a website, you have a product, and you have the motivation. Now you need to ask yourself – do you have the writer?

Who Needs a Professional Article Writer?

At the basic level, everyone seriously looking to make an impact on web audiences needs a dedicated article writer. Hobby writing for web content is fine for personal projects, but it doesn’t drum up a great deal of interest in the long term. It has been demonstrated again and again, the most successful websites are those that regularly produce the content their audience wants, the more frequently the better. So the need for an article writer should actually be taken as a given. The more pressing question then becomes, “Who should that writer be?”

Who Indeed?

In some cases, the answer is obvious – you. You know your material, you’re able to write confidently, and you’ve got inspiration in buckets. In this case, good, the problem is solved. Go and write that content, and perhaps pass it by a talented associate now and again for review.

However, this obviously isn’t always the case. Some site owners are good promoters and businessmen, but lack the highly developed writing skill necessary to really dig into a piece and make it shine for the audiences even once, much less week after week or day upon day. Or perhaps the owner feels comfortable writing some articles, but wants another point of view in specialized or technical pieces. In this case, the owner needs to acquire a professional writer to provide these services. The trick here lies in recognizing your strengths and limitations, and identifying exactly what the needs of your site are.

The Writer You Need

As with any hiring process, selecting a good writer requires understanding the business in question. Each site has its own unique needs, and should seek to acquire writers who meet those needs. It certainly is true that many people can write effectively on many topics, but the impact will be greatest when the writer is chosen for abilities directly relating to the job at hand.

For example, a site focusing on producing highly technical how-to manuals for home chemistry will demand a very different writer than a site focusing on topical, biting political satire. Each demands a professional who cannot only write well, but understands the topic itself and can write believably. Someone with no experience in politics will quickly be identified in the latter case, and in the former someone who flunked basic chemistry won’t be able to write more than superficial material at their best.

Obviously, the writer also must be good at writing itself – they must be able to construct effective sentences, use proper syntax, and command the language in a manner that keeps readers both interested and informed. Most importantly, they need to be able to write specifically at the level of the typical audience for the site. Masters’ degree level academic writing can be marvelous and compelling in peer reviewed journals, but would be entirely out of place on the aforementioned satirical archive.

How to Find Them

The key to getting the best writer for a website is research. Once you understand your needs as far as the writer goes, it’s time to begin looking for them. Fortunately, there are a number of ways to do so despite the overwhelming anonymity and size of the web.

First, consider your own colleagues and acquaintances. Frequently we have many associates in our field of specialty, and many of them harbor hidden talents. Consult with your co-workers and others that you know, to see if they can meet the needs at hand.

Another source of information on professional writers is the plethora of freelance writing websites. There are dozens of sites employing short-term writers on a variety of projects with skill levels ranging from high school and college level writing to highly technical productions involving text and multimedia elements. Frequently, these sites employ a ratings and review system, allowing you to look into their reputation and perhaps their prior work history.

Additionally, there is always the interview. This need not be a physical sit-down session – it can consist of posting an advertisement seeking a talented writer along with a requirement that they submit writing samples (either previously published pieces or unique work based on the site’s requirements). This will frequently result in a deluge of applicants, so owners are advised to be prepared to so some heavy reading in this case.

For good content on your website, the key is to identify the exact needs of your site, find the exact style and skill of writer you need, and then to strive to meet that need unfailingly. Have an open mind and be willing to adapt to new, good ideas, but stick with the goal and vision for your site and find the best person to fill the position you’ve created.

How to Find Quality Web Directories

November 30, 2009

When you promote your website one of the first things you will want to do is to submit your website to a number of different web directories. Submitting to web directories will provide you with a link to your website and if that web directory is one that is visited frequently throughout the day then that means there is a good chance that your web traffic will increase as people will begin to discover your website. So how do you find good web directories to submit you website to?

Doing a quick search online for web directories will supply you with an almost infinite number of choices so you need to know how to weed out the good from the bad. Here are some tips that will help you choose good web directories:

• Look at the page rank: Of course you will want to know what the page rank is for the specific directory you are looking at because a higher page rank means that the directory is more popular and thus will get more visitors throughout the day. There are many web directories that are not even ranked by the likes of Google and the other heavy hitting search engines and these are probably not the best ones to submit to as they are either not visited frequently or they are not a site that is in compliance with what the search engines want to see. If you get involved with a web directory that the search engines don’t like for any number of reasons such as spamming, then you can get lumped in with them and may actually receive a search engine penalty yourself.

• Price: Some web directories are free, some charge a few bucks, and bigger names such as Yahoo require you to pay hundreds of dollars per year just to be listed. In order to figure out whether or not the web directory is worth the price they are charging, you will have to dig deep into the directory and see what they have to offer. Take some time and visit a good number of sites that are listed in the directory and see how professional they are. Sometimes the company that a web directory keeps speaks volumes about those who run it.

• Relevance: If you find a web directory that has a great page rank and has a low cost to use or is even free, you must be sure that there is a relevant place for you to submit your website to. If you submit your cell phone company to a web directory that only lists websites that sell dog food then you are doing yourself no good. In fact you may get penalized from the big search engines like Google because you are not showing relevancy; and Goggle loves relevancy.

• Number of submissions: This goes along with page views. If you find a web directory that only has a few dozen submissions then that tells you that there are not many visitors hitting that directory on a daily basis. When you find these types of directories just move on as they will not be worth your time.

Marketing your website using web directories is a great way to kick start your web traffic, but you need to be sure that you are using quality web directories in order to get the most out of your campaign.

Submit your site to the premier high quality web directory. RankDir is human edited and especially designed to be search engine friendly.

Web Development - Get Deep Insights About Your Customers to Precisely Target Products and Services

November 30, 2009

No business can be successful without a deep understanding of its customers. This knowledge can help you to adapt your business style and advertising techniques to attract more customers and expand your client base.

Though face-to-face interactions are most suitable for understanding customer requirements and behaviors, web entrepreneurs do not have this luxury. Therefore, you must know your customers through indirect methods. Here are some of the methods you can use.

Tracking your Website Traffic

Traffic reports can serve as an excellent first step in understanding your customers. Ask your web hosting company about the free reports they offer on website traffic. Analyze these reports to determine key trends in traffic and visitor information. Once you have familiarized yourself with report information, use it to track your traffic and modify your website in accordance with customer’s requirements and trends. For instance, if you notice that you have many visitors from China, you can add features on web pages that attract attention of Chinese people and ensure that they keep coming back to your site. Tracking will also help you to assess the impact of specific advertising and promotion campaigns on customers and if they have been profitable for your business.

Some web hosting companies, however, do not provide any traffic reports. In this situation, you can look into your log files directly. Go to your web hosting service and look for a directory named “Logs.” Within the directory, download the most recent file to analyze the location of visitors, the pages viewed, the duration for which each page is viewed and the links attracting the most traffic. E-commerce websites can also recover information on sold products and where, in the ordering process, do customers bail out. Most text editors can open the file containing this information.

Collect E-mail Addresses and Stay in Touch

Give your visitors incentive for registering with your website by offering them free a newsletter subscription, an e-book or articles. Websites selling services can get customers to register by offering short free consultation. These methods let you collect the emails while the visitors get a glimpse of the good stuff you have to offer.

After you have obtained the email addresses and the permission to send mails to your customers, you can use the addresses to contact potential customers, and keep in touch by sending them discount coupons and special offers, information about sales, newsletters, articles and catalogs.

Getting Feedback from Customers

There is no better way of getting to know your customers than asking them directly about their requirements and expectations. Use your website to develop customer databases, and build user profiles and mailing lists. Give your customers an option of joining your mailing list on the homepage of your website. However, when seeking feedback directly from your customers you should always make it a point to respond to their messages or you risk alienating them. Analyze customer responses and requests to determine common problems and then aim to develop solutions to them. If you show genuine concern about their problems and needs, they will reciprocate by being loyal to your business and brand.

A deep knowledge of your customers helps you to precisely target your products and services and attract customer attention and interest. This in turn, helps you to increase your business profitability and significantly expand your customer base. If you want your web business to be successful and your website to be effective start getting to know your customers today.

Search Engine Optimization (SEO)

Usually we click on the first three to five web links that come up in any search result to find what we are looking for. In case the search results do not match well with our subject we change the keyword or add a few more to make the search more exclusive.

What is Off Page Optimization?

November 30, 2009

The term ‘optimization’ means, ‘an act, process, or methodology of making something (such as design, system, or decision) as fully perfect, functional, or effective as much as possible.’ Although this is the dictionary meaning of the word, in modern day ecommerce it has a more serious implication.

Optimization is vital for the success of your business. For example, when you want maximum number of people to visit your website, you need to do ‘search engine optimization’ or SEO. One of the important strategies you can use for SEO is off page optimization. In case you want to know what off page optimization is really about, simply read on.

Off page optimization can be summed up as those techniques that can help you improve your webpage search ranking but are not directly implemented on the webpage or the HTML file. These techniques are primarily involved with your website’s inbound and outbound linking or ‘link popularity’ as it is commonly called.

The commonly used techniques of off page optimization are:

•Inbound Linking: this is done by placing the links to your site on another website.

•Article Submission: this is the process of writing articles related to the content of your website and submitting them to various article directories and other websites. This can help create back-links easily.

•Directory Submission: unlike article submission you simply submit the link to your site along with a brief description of the content to various site directories.

Other popular techniques are press releases, link exchange, three-way linking, blogging, and posting on forums.

These are important because the major search engines look beyond the conventional on-page optimization, done for a website, while ranking a site. Some of the important things to be considered while doing off page optimization are:

•The quality and type of website that you are linking your site to: Search engines look for relevant content between two linked sites and so you must ensure that.

•The number of sites you are linking your site to: a considerable number of relevant sites that link back to you can establish your site as an ‘expert’ and thus, give it high page rank.

•The Google page rank of the sites that link back to your site: it is desirable that you have some high-ranking relevant sites linking back to you instead of many low-ranking ones.

•The anchor-texts of the links to your site: anchor text indicates the relevance between your site and the linking site. Thus it should include your primary keywords. But at the same time anchor text also needs to be variable in order to appear as ‘natural’ linking to the search engines.

•The title of the webpage that links back to your site: it’s not enough if the title is something like ‘link directory’. Ideally the title should be relevant to your site and include at least one of your keywords.

Because of the changing algorithms of search engines, it is important that you understand and implement off page optimization in your efforts to get a high page rank for your website.

What is on Page Optimization?

November 30, 2009

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) has become really important in the recent times. With more and more websites being launched, the search engines are progressively getting cramped up. So, if you want your website to catch the eye of interested readers, SEO is a must. On page optimization is that part of SEO which has a direct impact on your website, or a web page. In other words, this means making your website content such that it features high in the search engine result page commonly referred to as the SERP.

On page optimization is one of the key features of SEO. It is the basic step towards ensuring a high traffic to your website. There are many factors that can determine an effective on page optimization. Some of them are discussed below:

• Frequency of keywords in the title, URL, headings and the content of the site. You might need to modify the keyword arrangement in your web page so that it becomes easier to locate by a search engine. It is prudent that you put keywords that are directly associated with the subject of your site. You also have to make sure that there is a uniform distribution of the keyword/s in your website content.

• On page optimization also includes reducing the number or unnecessary HTML codes that might be making your webpage too crowded.

• Page content is another area that you need to focus on. Relevance and originality are the two most important things that you need to take care of. If a search engine detects plagiarized content, it is unlikely that your website will be included in the SERP. So, effectively the content is the king!

These points are instrumental in making an effective on page optimization. If you are particular about these, you can be sure that your website will have a high rank in the search engine result page. A couple of the main aspects need special mention. These are the title and the body text or the content.

The Title: This is the heading of your website and is thus almost like its identity to the Web surfers. If your site has multiple pages, it is wise to give titles to each of them. These create the first impression on the readers. It’s best to make them short and precise. It should ideally be within 10-12 words, and should sum up main highlights of your content. Make sure that your title is catchy and informative as this will appear as the name of your website on the SERP.

The Content: Your primary aim is to inform the readers. Whilst you keep an eye on SEO, it is the reader who matters the most. In your attempt to include the keywords, see to it that you do not compromise with the grammar and syntax of your sentences. If the language is sloppy or is evidently forced to put in the keywords, it might put off the readers.

So, while doing on page optimization, you will do well to keep these in mind. That way you will ensure a high rank for your website in all the SERPs.

November 29, 2009

Even the appearance of a mountain range can send your heart into a flutter. The higher the peak the more awe it generates and the greater the challenge to some who simply have to get up there with it. The thought of climbing its slopes, or skiing its snow covered runs, of walking its trails and of camping beside its streams in inspirational and a must do on many of the adventurous calendars.

Mountain climbing, also called mountaineering or alpining, can incorporate several aspects of the sport. It can be a mix of rock climbing, ice climbing and mixed climbing. Rock climbing is, of course, more likely to be done on areas where there is no ice and is probably more related to summer activities. Although with indoor rock climbing being a popular trend it can be undertaken at any time.

Ice climbing is an alpine winter activity often shown in relation to great climbing sites like the Himalayas, or the Swiss Alps. But as long as there is a slope offering a challenge and a peak tempting the brave hearts who have to get up there it is undertaken with gusto.

Either of these activities require specialized gear to ensure safety and success. This will include things like:-

Crampons – these comprise 8-14 pikes that are attached to boots. The aim is to hinder slipping and to dig into the ice with the power of the foot for a substantial hold.

Snowshoes – also known as webs. They help spread the weight of the body over a larger area to prevent sinking into the snow. They are traditionally made of wood with rawhide laces but modern types can be of metal or even plastic. Walking in them requires an action where the toes are raised before the rest of the foot. To prevent snow buildup they are of a lattice type design.

Skis – there would be few who do not know what these are.

Ice axe – there are many type of axes for specific use. The basic is designed to help amateurs climb and stop slips through self-arrest. The more complex type is used as a walking aid, the end of the handle digs into the ice and the pick part is held in the hand. It can be buried with the head down it can also be an anchor on which to tie a rope to form a belay (secure anchor). The adz part is used to cut footsteps into the ice and to scoop out snow and ice to form seats and trenches. It has other uses as well.

Ice screws – These are long screws that when driven into the ice can help with climbing over steep areas and also assist the rescue of a climber who falls into a crevasse.

Mountaineering is a great sport for many who enjoy the great outdoors and take to the challenges presented. Safety gear is important and while there is more that can be said on the issue this article covers the basics.

This lens explains winter sports and may wet your appetite enough to help you get going outdoors this winter.
